Arenga australasica
Habitat: Lowland tropical rainforest along coastal North Queensland, and the eastern coast of Arnhem Land.
Description: A tall slender self-clumping palm reaching heights over 30 feet. The clumps are usually small and have a few dominant trunks. The trunks will die off after they flower, making room for another trunk to take its place. The leaves are pinnate, with a green top, and whitish bottom.
Environment: The australasica enjoys a shady and moist area as both a young seedling, and as an adult. They can take full sun for a couple of hours a day as an adult. They are also vulnerable to the cold and should be planted in a protected area. Zones 10-11.
